Melbourne, Australia - Oct '16

Visiting the world's most livable city since 2011: Melbourne - Australia.
Our host was my best man with his family.
We also enjoyed visit to:
- Gold mine in Ballarat on October 9th. The city of Ballarat is approx. 110 km west-north-west of Melbourne, with a population of about 100,000,
- Mentone beach on October 10th. Mentone is a suburb in Melbourne, 21 km south-east of Melbourne's central business district. Its local government area is the City of Kingston. Mentone was originally founded as a resort town named after the Italian spelling of the formerly-Italian French town Menton. In order to keep with the Italian resort theme many streets in Mentone were named after Italian cities for example, Cremona Street, Florence Street, Venice Street and Milan Street,
- City of Sorrento on October 15th. Sorrento is located on the shores of Port Phillip on the Mornington Peninsula, 91 km south of Melbourne. It is a largely upper-class, seaside resort area, but is also a quiet seaside township in the off-peak months of the year. It was named by the Italian founders after the southern Italian town,
- City of Portsea on October 15th. Portsea is a resort town suburb of Melbourne, located across Port Phillip 95 km south of Melbourne's central business district. Portsea is a popular vacation spot, located near the end of the Mornington Peninsula, between the calm waters of Port Phillip and the wild surf of Bass Strait. Portsea is considered by many to be the hub of Melbourne's recreational scuba diving activities,
- Point Nepean National Park on October 15th. Point Nepean marks the southern point of The Rip (the entrance to Port Phillip) and the most westerly point of the Mornington Peninsula, in Victoria, Australia. It was named in 1802 after the British politician and colonial administrator Sir Evan Nepean by John Murray in HMS Lady Nelson. Evidence of Australian Aboriginal settlement of the area dates back 40,000 years. Point Nepean was a birthing place for women of the Boonerwrung People. There are 70 registered Aboriginal archaeological sites within the Point Nepean National Park,
- Pier St Kilda on October 16th. St Kilda is an inner suburb (neighborhood) of the metropolitan area of Melbourne, 6 km south-east of Melbourne's central business district.
... and most of all we enjoyed socializing with our friends.
