Carstensz Pyramid 2013

Carstensz Pyramid (4,884 m or 16,024 ft) is the highest summit in the Sudirman Range of the western central highlands of Papua province, Indonesia.
It took us 12 days (14. – 25. November) to summit this peak from nearby village of Sugapa.
Reaching the base of the mountain is a major challenge in itself, as climbers have to make their way through the tropical jungle of Papua.
Due to its remoteness, combined with government red tape, nearly constant tribal wars and political instability in the region, it is one of the less frequented Seven Summits (highest points of seven continents).
