Tuesday, December 27th is our summit day. After 7 hrs of demanding hiking we were at the top of Aconcagua – 1 pm local time.
To reach the top of Aconcagua we needed a total of 47 hrs of strenuous hiking ( for the descent we needed 16 hrs). All together: 63 hours of high altitude demanding hiking.
Zijah felt too cold and returned to Camp 3 at 6,500m approximately. At 6 am, when we started our summit approach, the air temperature was – 20 C, with 80 km/h wind. By using the Wind chill chart table our bodies felt this – 39 C, which is extremely cold - human flesh will begin to freeze within less than minute.

From the summit we returned to Camp 3 and spent the night there. The next day we continued all the way down to the Base Camp. In the late afternoon we played a soccer match against Argentina. They had one professional player – for 12 years he played in Boca Juniors (number 8). The final result: Bosnia and Argentina were tied. By the way – it was the most convenient result for all of us – we all had dinner and established tents that night.

 • The Base Camp is all the way down and Canada – Camp 1 is on the left side.
 • Fikret and I left our flag in the Refugio Plaza de Mulas(4,370m / 14,000ft).

 • The next day we continued to the Puente del Inca – connection with the civilization. Puente del Inca is the village on the main road through the Andes between Argentina and Chile, 10 km from the Chilean border.

On our way down, fighting with strong mountain rivers was much easier.
 • Puente del Inca is “just around the corner”.
 • The following day, December 30 we transferred to Mendoza City. The flamenco on the streets of Mendoza and at the Spanish style restaurant for New Years Eve will be hard to forget.
